BIOGRAPHY
Visionary leader and lightning bolt survivor, Philip Joseph, aka Reyn Wakefield, is in the business of making the world a better and brighter place. A prolific entrepreneur, he has used many titles to define his work: director, designer, architect, producer, music composer, performer, sound healer, vibrational scientist and sunflower farmer, just to name a few. A deeply spiritual and creative thinker, he brings a naturally insightful perspective into ancient and esoteric dynamics of the resonant universe balanced with science and . The results include powerful examples in sustainability, moral business practice models, highly artful experiences, rich media content, new interactive interfaces, deep sound healing rituals and powerfully expressive musical journeys.
Philip has worked on projects with Sony, Harman (Harman Kardon, JBL, Infinity, Mark Levinson, AKG, Lexicon), Lucent Dossier, Wanderlust Festival, Imagine Gallery NYC, Envision Festival, Gratitude*NYC, KBS+ (Kirsenbaum Bond Senecal + Partners), The Sound & Music Alliance, The Jewish Heritage Museum, The Library Of Congress and The Bosnian Pyramid Complex. He has composed music for Deepak Chopra and has been featured on TED.tv networks for his debut musical performance as PjOE. Throughout his career as a creative professional he has built businesses, brands and experiences from the ground up, directed creative breakthroughs leading to increased market share and developed custom software and hardware supporting business logistics to cutting edge sound and music technologies.
In the face of global corruption and mass production of chemically-enhanced foods and products, Philip has adopted a quadruple bottom line model: People, Planet, Prana & Profit. This enables him to create real solutions for the world by ensuring that every aspect of a business adheres to a strict policy of ecological sustainability, human well being and financial profitability. Instead of building businesses with a "perceived value" in the marketplace, Philip is engaged in constructing transparent and morally functioning models, creating real value for our world.
With a solid track record as a designer and brand developer, Philip has architected and launched companies, products and services to local and international audiences with high levels of success. His design, marketing and business logistics strategies have helped his clients become leaders in their respective industries and gain access to the world’s most coveted retailers like Whole Foods, Bergdorf Goodman and The London Stock Exchange. Further, his design work (pixelatedworld.com) makes him a sought-after freelancer among NYC’s big ad agencies.
After more than a decade of design, branding and business communications behind him, Philip took time to shift his entrepreneurial focus to his family’s business of field-grown flowers. From 2009-2012 he led new business development, set 400 plus acres of production towards an organic cycle, created a 100% truly sustainable packaging solution (best in the industry) and brought all outsourced factors of the business into the local US economy. In that time he garnered over 2.5 million dollars in new business and saved the operation over $500K annually by implementing new, more sustainable business practices that yielded a higher quality product.
In 2012 he officially launched Avant Muse, a creative agency comprised of artists, musicians, performers, scientists and sages, The Agents of Creation. Together this group shares a common vision to create compelling and unique experiences that touch, move and inspire. It is the aim of Avant Muse to propel the human spirit forward and expand conscious evolution. In this group, Philip has produced and led powerful performances, showcasing his interactive art and provides an outlet for other transformational artists to create and showcase. Some of the most notable efforts have been his work developing high impact live electronic dance music shows and interactive interfaces like the illumin-S Laser Harp and the CYMATIK sound into water experience, which are performed live as high art interactive experiences. In 2014 CYMATIK debuted at Imagine Gallery NYC alongside artists Alex Grey, Peter Ruprecht and Yarrow Mazetti. He also created the deeply transformational sound space of the immersive healing experience, Sonic Attunement. The latest project focus for Avant Muse is the world's first traveling sonic temple, the KYMAdome, which will present publicly in 2018. Currently the organization is touring with the prototype The Immersive Igloo.
A vibrational scientist on a spiritual journey to harness and share the infinite power of sound, Philip believes the most intimate way to connect to the human spirit is through this source of incredible energy. Invoking the shamanic rhythms of our ancestors through trance, he creates a sound that modern neuroscience has proven to impact the nervous system, creating wellness and altered states. He blends the sacred with the modern, employing a revolutionary type of rhythm that can cast listeners into states of ecstasy, tranquility and bliss. Philip seeks to remove listeners from the regularity of the default world and open the pathway to a journey that invites all to let go and experience the sensation of unified existence in a way that can only be done through sound.
Under various monikers and projects (Reyn Wakefield, PjOE, REAL EYES, USS, Sonic Attunement, The Soul Rhythm Alchemists and WAKN REYN), Philip has played the main stages of Envision Festival, Gratitude*NYC, Wanderlust Festival, Pex Summer Festival, Secret Solstice Reykjavik, TED.tv, BangOn!NYC, Pascha, Burning Man, Disorient, I FEEL and many more. He has opened for and shared billing with Massive Attack, Disclosure, Banks, Jamie Jones, Damien Lazarus, Carl Craig and other notable global music mainstays, playing to crowds upwards of 10,000 plus. In 2015 he debuted a new musical project WAKN REYN in the groundbreaking documentary film Time Is Art. See more of his professional music production, film score compositions and sound design work at www.reynwaves.com.
Philip’s deep interest and understanding in resonance, sound and frequency began at the age of 21 when a near death triggered an out of body experience. This deeply mystical journey into the infinite void exposed him to universal understandings and confirmed that his life's purpose is through his global sound and resonance work. In 2012 he was struck by lightning at the Wanderlust Festival in Vermont when a freak storm hit the festival. This experience further opened his awareness to a broader perspective on energy, frequency and vibration and how he can relate these energies towards harmonizing the human nervous system. These and other experiences have opened a window for Reyn to view and experience the never ending spiral of infinite renewable energy – the zero point of true personal freedom.
Throughout the last fifteen years Philip has unearthed a diverse range of design, musical, business and spiritual achievements. He continually draws inspiration from the edges of reality, nature and love. He is a visionary force emitting creativity, life and light in all that he does. Any business, project or endeavor would benefit highly from his keen eye and imaginative mind.
